The Carlingford Heritage Centre has been a vital part of the areas historical Landscape since the 13th century. We invite you to our centre to learn about the village from its foundation to its prosperous years and right through to modern day. Carlingford is located equidistantly between Dublin and Belfast.

The Tholsel
This short video made for Heritage Week gives a brief history of the Tholsel by local girl Erin Redpath (age 11) and an explanation by Seamus Murphy, Chair of Carlingford Lough Heritage Trust of the work that the Trust intends to carry out on the restoration of the Tholsel with the help of The Heritage Council and the Irish Walled Towns Network
Enjoy a guided tour with us and discover Ireland’s medieval past. Carlingford is a fine example of a medieval walled town built at the time of the Normans in the 12th century.
Our guides will take you on tours of the historic remains, including Carlingford Castle.
We meet you at the Tourist Office on the Greenore road along the seafront.
Our Town Tours take place Monday to Wednesday at 11am .
Carlingford Heritage Centre is a beautiful, restored medieval church which has retained its original function as a place of assembly. It is the perfect venue for your special day!
Wedding ceremonies are very popular here at the Heritage Centre, not a surprise given it’s beautiful setting overlooking the old Medieval town of Carlingford and the natural beauty of Carlingford Lough with breath taking views of the Mourne Mountains.
